Do you have an idea for a portrait that you’ve been aching to get drawn for a loved one for ages now?
It’s a new year, I’m in a new house, but I am still Pen Jones and my pens are at the ready to draw your portrait this January!
Even if your portrait idea seems crazy, hard to draw, enormous or unaffordable, why not drop me a line to ask for my advice.
Even if you don’t go ahead with the work, I love to help out, and my advice is always free.
I will TRY and make your caricature visions a reality!
A large family caricature portrait
To start the year I thought I’d show off a few caricature portraits I drew late last year, representing some diversity in style and size.
The caricature portrait below is an a1 size family caricature I drew for my Mortgage Advisor(a lovely dude and fantastic advisor https://www.langima.com/) which included his 3 children, wife and Labrador.
Though it’s always great when I can draw from one photo it’s not the end of the world if there isn’t one perfect pic of the whole family and I don’t mind drawing from various photos to get the perfect ensemble.
Add colour to your portrait(and a Guiness!)
This is an A2 portrait I drew as a gift for my partner’s Uncle Frank’s 90th birthday, and decided to try and capture Frank’s character with plenty of colour and a good pint of Guiness too.
If you order a portrait from me you can also add a message, like a bit of heartfelt sentimentality or this bit of wisdom below
A Manchester United fan’s fever dream caricature
This a4 caricature portrait of the caricature recipient with Ronaldo and Alex Ferguson in Old Trafford is the perfect gift for a fan. Although I don’t know the first thing about football, this is 1 of 2 Manchester United themed caricatures I drew last Christmas! This one’s a composite, sadly for the guy in the middle it’s not based on a live photo!
Drawing a Band caricature – in multiple styles!
I got a string of lovely commissions from a fan and friend of the Crewe-based band Tres Elementos late last year, and she asked for portraits of them in a variety of styles, including a simplified
cartoon style, drawn as Toy Story characters, and drawn as if they were characters on the Simpsons(as seen below). It was a fun challenge to go a bit out of the box and waky with these,
and to really try and get the band member’s characters on the paper. Check out my instagram ‘penjonescartoons’ to see the other styles.
Just Ask
So, whether you’re looking for a caricature portrait commission large or small, don’t be afraid to ask! I love to help people solve their creative problems, and I’m happy to talk them through.
I am available for commissions AND to do live caricature portraits at events too, and if you’d like to see more examples of my work just go here https://penjones.co.uk/portfolio-new/
Many Thanks to you all,
Ben ‘Pen’ Jones
