Corporate events are a fine art. I’ve attended enough as a caricaturist to know, some things work well and some things are a flop.
Biased as I undoubtedly am, I think that having a Caricaturist at these events is the perfect conversation-starter.
At the majority of Corporate events I’ve attended there will invariably be piles of tat with the company logo on it, and unplayed-with games, but I’ll be doing a cracking trade and caricature up to 12 people per hour, going table to table(mix and mingle style) or at a station where people can see me doing my thing.
Blowing my own horn aside, I think a caricaturist drawing people brings them together. At a corporate event with colleagues who may not socialise a lot outside of work or people from different parts of the
company that may not have met eachother, funny drawings cut through the drudgery and get people laughing.
Here are a few corporate events I’ve attended which showcase the diverse ways you can use a caricaturist.
A Teambuilding corporate caricature-off
A really fun event I helped to run was a teambuilding event for https://www.accomplishedevents.com/ , in which fab caricaturist Richard Ellis https://www.cartoondick.co.uk/ and I ran a caricaturing
workshop, getting attendees to caricature each other, with hilarious consequences! Both Richard and I worked the room, as it was a quite large group, and the afternoon culminated in Richard entreating the
group to get revenge and caricature me, resulting in a huge variety of caricatures of myself(some weird, some terrible, some amazing!).
Drawing Doctors
Of the multiple conferences I’ve been a caricaturist at the Urology conference at the ICC last year was my favourite. I drew prospective clients for the medical equipment company I was hired by as a wee
keepsake that would remind them of the company, and I then became a bit of a walking advertisement, offering caricatures to people elsewhere at the conference on behalf of the company.
I must have been drawing for a good 7 hours and at the end of the day I even drew some of the employee’s cats, kids and dogs! If you have any questions about my approach caricaturing at conferences just pop me a message!
Corporate Xmas parties and end of year shindigs
It’s great to see companies celebrating and the employees coming together in celebration of a job well done, so a christmas party or end of year party is always fun to caricature at.
For a few companies I have created group caricatures using photographs taken at the event. This provides the perfect keepsake that can be displayed at work to remind everyone of the event.
